Meet the Alegado Family – Ten Trails’ 500th Family

Meet the Alegado Family – Ten Trails’ 500th Family

Meet the Alegado family, new residents in Ten Trails and our 500th family to move into the community! Gideon and Katrina Alegado and their two teenage children move to Ten Trails in June from nearby Maple Valley and are loving their new Oakridge Homes home and the lifestyle offered in the community.

Home Shopping Remotely During the Pandemic

Like many families, it became obvious to the Alegados during pandemic stay-at-home orders that they needed more room for their family. With their kids now teenagers and Gideon and Katrina working from home, they quickly realized their 1,660 square-foot home in Maple Valley, while cozy, just was not well-suited for the family any longer. The Alegados started their search for a new home online during the pandemic and they first toured their current home virtually while vacationing at a friend’s home in Hawaii.
“We were looking at photos of the house literally from the beach and then we made an offer the next day, sight unseen,” said Katrina. “A few days later we were signing paperwork on our friend’s patio overlooking the ocean.”

More Space to Spread Out in a Growing Community

As they get settled in a big and beautiful 2,800-square-foot home, the Alegados joke that they sometimes cannot find one another.
“I’m sure it will fill up, but right now it feels massive,” said Gideon.
The family is eager to explore all the amenities Ten Trails offers, like the many parks and green spaces, sports courts, and community pea patches.
“We’ve been out on the trails many times,” said Katrina who enjoys walking the family’s dog, Echo, on the miles of nature trails.
The Alegados are also looking forward to meeting more of their neighbors at upcoming community events, like the Sunset Markets.
“We are so excited and honored to be recognized in this way and looking forward to settling in,” said Gideon.
Welcome to the neighborhood, Alegados! We are so happy you chose Ten Trails as your new hometown. www.TenTrails.com 360.469.4043

Three Ten Trails Community Amenities You Should be Using this Spring

Three Ten Trails Community Amenities You Should be Using this Spring

Ten Trails has many community amenities for residents and the public to use including our award-winning Civic Park and miles of trails to explore. Here are three Ten Trails amenities that you must check out this spring:

Ten Trails Community Fire Pits

Something magical happens while sitting around a fire with friends and family that does not happen in other situations. In this time when there is a huge emphasis on virtual connections and reliance on technology for socialization, an old-fashioned fireside chat with family and neighbors is the perfect low-tech way to reconnect. Ten Trails has fire pits for residents to use scattered throughout the community.

Ten Trails Community Ping Pong Table

Did you know Ten Trails has an outdoor ping pong table for residents to use? Grab a ball and some paddles and challenge your neighbors to a game! Ping Pong is a great activity to keep you fit, get you outside this spring, and is by nature a socially-distanced activity to do with others.

Ten Trails Community Bocce Ball Courts

Ten Trails’ bocce ball courts are located in Civic Park near the performance pavilion. If you are not familiar with the game, there is a sign posted next to the courts with instructions on how to play. All you need for a great time outdoors this spring is one other player and a bocce ball set www.TenTrails.com 360.469.4043

Fast Pace of Home Sales Shows Ten Trails has What Homebuyers Want Most

Fast Pace of Home Sales Shows Ten Trails has What Homebuyers Want Most

Since opening just over two years ago, Ten Trails, the master planned community in Black Diamond managed by Oakpointe Communities, has seen home sales increase at a brisk pace and is well-known in the Puget Sound area as a desirable place to live. There are many reasons why so many homebuyers choose Ten Trails. Here are just a few!

Many Home Builders to Choose From

Currently, Ten Trails has eight different builder options to choose from with home products ranging from townhomes to single family detached homes and even some apartments for rent currently under construction and pre-leasing.

A Walkable Community

Walkability remains one of the top features homebuyers desire in a new community. Ten Trails has miles of paved sidewalks and walking trails in addition to our nature trails that weave through the community’s wooded natural areas.

A Strong Sense of Community

Homebuyers want to also feel a sense of connection and community with where they live. Ten Trails offers this through our many shared community amenities and community events that bring residents together. Even during the pandemic, we have found ways to connect with one another and are looking forward to coming together in person again when guidelines allow for it.

Proximity Close to Nature

Home shoppers are also searching for communities with easy access and proximity to nature. The entire community of Ten Trails is nestled in rural Black Diamond, surrounded by forests and with open and natural spaces integrated throughout the community. It is also located just a short drive from some of the area’s finest outdoors destinations like Crystal Mountain Resort, countless hiking trails, campgrounds, and Mount Rainier National Park. 360.469.4043 www.TenTrails.com

Achieve Your 2021 Fitness Goals Without Going to a Gym

Achieve Your 2021 Fitness Goals Without Going to a Gym

It is still uncertain whether gyms will be allowed to be open in the coming weeks, and if they are, capacity may be limited. Do not let that deter you from achieving your new year fitness goals! Ten Trails has all you need to get fit this winter without leaving the community.

Hit the Trails

Ten Trails has miles of trails for walking, jogging, or running! Check out our flipbook for a map of our current trail system to plan your route before heading out. Need an accountability partner? Our HOA sponsored Facebook group is a great place to meet other residents to be your socially-distanced walking or jogging buddies.

Get Creative with the Play Equipment

Ten Trails’ many parks offer a variety of play equipment that can be used for workouts. Busy parents who do not have time for workouts often use this trick to sneak them in while watching their kiddos at the playground. Check out Red Tricycle for some suggestions on how to use playground equipment for a quick workout

Embrace Bodyweight Exercises

Take a cue from the military and embrace calisthenics, or bodyweight exercises! You can see huge results in muscle gains without purchasing expensive weights by following exercises that use your own body weight to create resistance. Examples of these exercises include squats, push-ups, crunches, burpees, and lunges. For a list of calisthenics workouts to try, check out this article from Shape magazine. www.TenTrails.com 360.469.4043

Enjoy New Parks and Additions to the Community

Enjoy New Parks and Additions to the Community

Ten Trails has been busy over the past several months adding on to our amazing network of parks in the community. We recently opened Big Rock Park just southeast of the Village Green and improved our Civic Park by adding a brand new zipline!

Opening of Big Rock Park

The vision for Ten Trails is that, when complete,  there will be a park within walking distance to every home. In keeping with this vision, we have continued to open new parks as the community grows. Recently we completed a new park located across from the new JK Monarch lots. Big Rock Park features kids’ play equipment including a jungle gym a swing set, our new community pea patches, a play lawn, and a large boulder found on site that was the inspiration for the new park’s name.

New Zipline in Civic Park

We are excited to share that we have installed a new zipline in Civic Park! This new Speedway Zipline was manufactured in Germany and measures 64’ in length. This particular model is heavily used in city parks across the globe. We ask that in order to keep the zipline functioning properly, users observe the weight limit set for it, which is 175 lbs., and only one person may use the zipline at a time. Have fun! www.TenTrails.com 360.469.4043

Take a Day Trip from Your Ten Trails Home This Summer

Take a Day Trip from Your Ten Trails Home This Summer

Summer travel plans may have  changed this year, but luckily Ten Trails residents have access to some of the country’s most scenic and beautiful areas all within a day’s drive from the community. Read on to plan your family’s summer day trips!

Bellingham, Washington

Bellingham is the northernmost city in the contiguous United States and is known for its abundant outdoor recreation opportunities. Take a two-hour drive from Ten Trails to explore this city which includes a quaint downtown along with places for fishing, hiking and golfing.

Bainbridge Island

Summertime is the perfect time to take a ferry ride over to Bainbridge Island! Pier 52 in Seattle will take you on a quick 35-minute ferry ride by car or on foot to this gorgeous island. Once there, take a walk on the waterfront trail which begins at the park close to the ferry terminal. Visitors can opt for the two-mile western loop or the 1.5-mile eastern route. The latter takes hikers alongside the waterfront and forest, while the western trail runs along parks, restaurants, and historical sites.

Mount Rainier National Park

Just a short drive south of the community, Ten Trails residents can visit one of the country’s most beautiful national parks. Most roads and trailheads within Mount Rainier National Park are now open for the summer season, however visitors’ centers, Paradise Inn, and facilities remain closed per guidance from the CDC and state, local and NPS public health officers. Be sure to pack your own lunch and plan your visit by checking the park’s website before heading out.

Olympic National Park

Another Washington State-based National Park, the Olympic National Park, is located about two hours from Ten Trails and offers visitors access to top-rated hiking trails as well as a chance to take a stroll through one of the last temperate rainforests in the country. The Hoh Rainforest is a popular destination in the park due to its spectacular old-growth forest featuring Sitka spruce as well as western hemlock among a wide variety of other trees. Visit the park’s website prior to making the trip to learn how to recreate responsibly and what facilities and centers will be open for your visit.

Snoqualmie Falls

For a quick afternoon trip, take the family to nearby Snoqualmie Falls which is only 35 minutes from Ten Trails. Snoqualmie Falls is one of the state’s most popular attractions and, in addition the spectacular 270-foot waterfall, there is an outdoor upper observation deck as well as a trail that wanders through the two-acre park for visitors to explore. As of publication date of this post, the park’s restrooms and lower boardwalk are closed to the public. www.TenTrails.com 360-469.4043
